The Health & Welfare Fund provides active participants and their eligible dependents with medical, prescription drug, health reimbursement, dental, vision and vacation & holiday benefits.
The Southern California Pipe Trades Health & Welfare Fund is a self-funded plan. This means your employer’s contributions—and any income earned from investment of those contributions—pay for the health care expenses that you and your covered dependents incur. The Fund pays only those benefits covered by the Plan, and the Board of Trustees makes final decisions about what is covered.
The Fund partners with Blue Shield of California with the goal of lowering and controlling patient out-of-pocket medical costs while expanding the network of contracted providers available. Blue Shield provides network access and some administrative services only. They do not administer the Fund’s prescription drug, dental or vision benefits.
