The Southern California Pipe Trades Pensioners & Surviving Spouses Health Fund provides retired participants and their eligible spouses with medical, prescription drug, dental and vision benefits.
The Pensioners Health Fund is a self-funded plan. This means the Plan is funded by active union members, whose employers make contributions on their behalf, and by premiums paid by participants and survivors. The Fund pays only those benefits covered by the Plan, and the Board of Trustees make final decisions about what is covered.
This Plan does not cover active participants, whose benefits are covered under the Southern California Pipe Trades Health & Welfare Fund.
The Fund partners with Blue Shield of California with the goal of lowering and controlling patient out-of-pocket medical costs while expanding the network of contracted providers available. Blue Shield provides network access and some administrative services only.
