Prescription Drug Coverage

Prescription Drug Coverage

Prescription drugs and medicines are provided as part of your UHC SignatureValue HMO medical coverage. However, they must be prescribed by your physician and medically necessary.

Use Network Pharmacies - Your UHC Plan has a network of thousands of participating pharmacies, including most retail pharmacies and drugstore chains. Register or log in to their website at www.myuhc.com to confirm that your pharmacy is in the network to achieve maximum savings.

Your Plan provides most medicines and drugs prescribed under federal and state laws by a licensed doctor, dentist or podiatrist when related to a diagnosis and dispensed by a licensed U.S. pharmacy. You and your doctor can check the Plan’s formulary list of commonly prescribed drugs and medications. The formulary includes both brand-name and generic medications approved by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA). If you are not sure whether an item is covered or copayment amounts, call UHC at (800) 624-8822. Or register and log into your account at www.myuhc.com.

How to Fill Prescriptions

You may choose whether to fill your prescriptions at a participating network pharmacy or through home delivery by mail using these steps:

Network Pharmacy

Choosing a network pharmacy may help you save on costs. You can view list of retail pharmacies for your plan by signing into your health care account at www.myuhc.com. If you don’t use a participating network pharmacy, you may have to pay the full retail price for your prescriptions.

Mail Order Prescriptions

Through home delivery, you can avoid monthly trips to the pharmacy and save money, too. You may order up to a three-month supply of medications you regularly take—and there’s usually no charge for standard shipping within the U.S. You can enroll for mail-order refills through your online account at www.myuhc.com or by calling (800) 624-8822.

Outside the United States

Services, prescriptions, medications and supplies purchased outside of the United States are excluded, unless they were the result of an accident or life-threatening emergency medical condition.
